Kams' Society Hawaii

 President’s Message

Aloha Kams' Society Members,

Happy New Year and Welcome 2024.

Thank you for electing me to be your President of the Kams’ Society. I will continue to work alongside the rest of the Officers, Directors, and Trustees in ensuring that we provide our membership with activities which foster fellowship and awareness of the mission of the Society. Your board has planned out most of the activities for 2024 which you can find on the last page of this newsletter. Please mark those dates on your calendar and I hope to see you there.

First up is the Chinatown parade – Saturday February 3. Unlike other societies, Kams’ Society has the distinction of having a “float” decorated with flowers, foliage, a beautiful mural, and seats for those who would rather ride, than walk.  If you have nothing planned that afternoon, please consider participating.  After, you can enjoy the rest of the evening at the Night in Chinatown  festivities. It's a lot of fun and you’ll have a great time!

I also want to see our Society grow in membership – so if you know of anyone who meets the requirements to be a member of the Kams’ Society, ask them to join. Personally, my granddaughter Emma, will soon be a Kams’ Society member at the ripe old age of 1 month. Please email our Membership Chair, Jocelyne Chun for an application.

Finally, on February 10, we will celebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon. My home will be celebrating with our traditional first meal of the new year of “jai”, pouring of tea, and passing/receiving “licee”. I hope you will celebrate it with your family and I wish you much good health, happiness, and prosperity.

                   Until the next time,

                  Wendy Mow

If anyone has information on a member who was hospitalized or passed away, please let me know,

so I can send a card to them on behalf of the Society.
